Most motorhomes and RV's come with generators, but many campers, towables and smaller trailers don't – that's where Honda portable generators come in. Honda offers its customers a full line of portable generators that are seemingly made for the RV market, like the EU2000i model. EU2000i Specs The EU2000i portable generator is a 2000-watt generator and a part of Honda's "Super Quiet" EU line, meaning it can provide a whack of power without a lot of noise pollution. The unit operates at a maximum of 53 to 59 decibels, meaning you can enjoy your power and peacefulness. The EU2000i line of Honda portable generators also features what's called an "Eco-throttle." This fuel-saving feature actually gages the load placed on the generator and then adjusts the engine speed to save fuel and reduce engine noise. Thanks to the “eco-throttle,” the EU2000i can run about 15 hours on a single 1.1 gallon tank. Better or Cleaner Power Like all Honda portable generators, the EU2000i has inverter technology, meaning the generator's raw power is passed through a filter and provides a sine wave that is equal to your household AC current. This means no more blown components, burnt out fuses or broken electrical devices. The clean power provided by the Honda unit is safer and cheaper than purchasing a separate alternator. Size and Weight Two of the primary concerns of RV, motorhome and camper owners are size and weight. The Honda EU2000i weighs in at just 46.3 pounds and measures a mere 20.1 inches across, 11.4 inches deep and 16.7 inches high – basically, the size of a small microwave. If your load requires more than the 2000 watts that the EU2000i provides, remember that moving and storing two smaller generators is often easier than wrestling with a much larger one. Drawbacks The biggest drawback of these ultra-small Honda portable generators are their inability to produce enough power to run a rooftop or window air conditioning unit. However, as the price of gas increases, the likelihood of RV owners running a 24-hour, non-vehicle-powered AC unit is unlikely. See also: All Articles for Car and Truck Tips
