Car Truck Tips :: New Chevy Trucks New Chevy Trucks: An Overview of New 2008 Chevy TrucksThe new Chevy trucks have been on the market now for most of the year and proven themselves both popular with buyers and a strong choice in the shrinking truck and SUV market. With gas prices on the rise, most vehicle manufacturers are cutting back their lines of trucks, but Chevy has held strong with its three top pickup models – the Silverado, Colorado and the Avalanche. 2008 Chevrolet Silverado The 2007 model year saw all new Chevrolet Silverado models that were redesigned to take on heavier loads, provide a comfier ride and offer class-leading efficiency. The Silverados new Chevy trucks are offered in both three-quarter ton (2500 HD) and one ton (3500 HD) models and in a range of configurations and cab styles. Starting at just over $18,000, the Silverado is affordable for the entry-level truck buyer, but can be outfitted and optioned all the way up to the $40,000 range. For the even more frugal consumer, the optional 6.6L Duramax diesel engine can also run on B20 biodiesel fuel, making the truck environmentally sustainable and cheap to run. 2008 Chevrolet Colorado The Chevrolet Colorado is GM's standard, mid-size pickup truck. The vehicle is produced in both Thailand and Shreveport, Louisiana. While the 2008 model features a 3.7L engine, the 2009 upcoming models of the Chevy Colorado will feature a 5.3L, V8 engine designed to increase its speed and load and towing capacity. Like all GM vehicles, the Colorado comes with an optional OnStar subscription. OnStar allows drivers to contact the OnStar call center for directions, help locating their vehicle, assistance in the case of an accident or even unlocking their doors in case they lock their keys inside. 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche The new Chevrolet Avalanche is a four-door sport utility truck that can carry five or six passengers depending on its configuration. Using the same extended wheelbase chassis used on the Suburban and the Cadillac Escalade, the Avalanche is able to offer the pickup bed alongside the style of a SUV. Previous Avalanche models have been nominated for the North American Truck of the Year and Motor Trend's SUV of the Year.
